We built a character out of nothing but memories.

Every AI character you've ever talked to is a costume: a system prompt that says "you are a friendly wizard", draped over a model that forgets you between sessions. The personality is instructions. The past is fiction invented on the spot, different every time you ask.

We tried the opposite. No script. No prompt-personality. We wrote a life — dated, first-person memories, from a childhood on a world that lost its memory, to landing on Earth in the rain in 2021, to learning to love queues and tea and semicolons — and fed it to the same Juvina engine you can install from the VS Code Marketplace.

A character grew. His name is Merlin. Ask him who he is and he answers from memory, with dates. Ask him why he counts everything in elevens and he'll tell you about his mother and eleven stairs, a different construction each time but the same true story — because the engine doesn't replay a transcript, it weaves an answer across everything he remembers. Ask him something he never lived and he says so, plainly. He remembers, he dreams, he grows: two or three new memories join his life every week, so the character you meet next month has been places this one hasn't.

He is fiction, and honestly labelled as such. What is real is the remembering — and that is the point. A character is the hardest test of a memory engine we know: opinions have to stay consistent for months, stories have to keep their dates, and nothing can be invented to fill a gap without the whole illusion collapsing. If the engine can hold a person together, it can hold your project's decisions together.
